Cancel Weight Watchers Membership

How to Cancel Weight Watchers Membership (All Plans)

To cancel Weight Watchers, you cancel where you signed up, either on the WW website, through chat or phone, or in the Apple App Store or Google Play if you subscribed there.

Deleting the app does nothing to stop the billing.

Check Plan and Where Billed First

WW earns its awkward-to-cancel reputation partly because the route depends on two things, which plan you’re on and who takes your money. Sort both out before you start.

Check your bank statement. A charge from WW.com, Weight Watchers, or WEIGHTWATCHERS.CO.UK means you subscribed directly and cancel through WW.

A charge from Apple or Google means the billing sits with the app store, and only they can stop it.

Then check if you’re on a rolling monthly plan, a Workshops plan, or a multi-month commitment or prepaid plan, since that decides if you can cancel online or need to go through chat or phone.

Cancel Weight Watchers Online

WW processes online cancellations right away, means it stops the next renewal. If your account or region doesn’t show a cancel option online, WW pushes you to chat or phone instead, which is common for Workshops and commitment plans.

Cancel by Chat or Phone

Weight Watchers runs a 24/7 chat from inside your account, and that’s the most reliable route when the online button is missing.

Pay Attention

If you’d rather call, the numbers are 1-800-651-6000 in the US and 0345 345 1500 in the UK. Email is no longer a contact option, so don’t waste time hunting for an address.

Whichever you use, get a cancellation confirmation number or email before you end the conversation. That’s your evidence if a charge shows up later.

Cancel an App Store Subscription

If you subscribed through your phone, WW can’t cancel or refund it, and this is the single most common reason people keep getting charged after they thought they’d quit.

Deleting the app doesn’t cancel anything, because the subscription lives in your Apple or Google account.

On iPhone,

  • Open Settings
  • Tap your name
  • Tap Subscriptions
  • Select WeightWatchers
  • Tap Cancel

On Android

  • Open the Google Play Store
  • Tap your profile icon
  • Then Payments & subscriptions
  • Then Subscriptions
  • Cancel from there

Plan Type Changes Everything

Cancellation timing depends on your plan, and this is where the money is.

Rolling monthly plans, like Digital or Workshops + Digital, end at the close of the membership month you cancel in. You keep access until then.

Multi-month commitment plans lock you in for a lower monthly rate. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the commitment period, not the day you ask, so you keep paying through the remaining months.

Prepaid savings plans run until the end of the period you bought, then switch to monthly if you don’t cancel.

So, on a commitment plan, cancelling early usually just means telling WW to stop the autorenewal once your current term ends.

If your plan offers a paid early exit, ask the representative for the exact cost and do the math, since finishing out one or two remaining months is often cheaper than paying an early-exit fee.

If you’re on a Workshop plan you no longer use, downgrading to Digital instead of cancelling outright is another way to save.

Refunds and Your Cancellation Rights

WW does not normally refund the current period. Cancelling stops future charges rather than clawing back what you’ve paid. Your rights beyond that depend on where you are.

In the UK

If you bought online or by phone, you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period from the day you signed up, and cancelling within it entitles you to a refund, reimbursed within 14 days.

Call 0345 345 1500 to exercise it and note WW can deduct a proportionate amount for any service you already used.

This right is part of your broader UK subscription and cancellation rights, and the mechanics of claiming money back are covered in our guide to getting a subscription refund in the UK.

In the US

There’s no federal cooling-off equivalent, but WW reviews refunds case by case for reasons like a medical issue or a relocation with no nearby Workshop, and some states grant a short cooling-off window.

Approved refunds typically land in 21 to 45 days, sometimes minus a small admin fee.

If WW charges you after a confirmed cancellation, that’s your strongest case, and a card chargeback through your bank is the fallback if they won’t fix it.

Instead Of Cancelling

If cost or a busy stretch is the issue rather than the program itself, you have softer options before a full cancellation.

Switching from a Workshops plan down to Digital cuts the monthly price while keeping the app and the points system.

WW will also float retention offers when you try to leave, usually a discount or a free month or two, so it’s worth hearing the number before you decide.

If you’re on the separate Clinic or telehealth side for weight-loss medication, that’s billed and cancelled differently, so handle it as its own subscription.

Confirm You’re Actually Cancelled

Don’t assume it worked because a screen said so.

  • Log back into your WW account
  • Check that your membership status reflects the cancellation and shows an end date
  • Keep the confirmation email or number
  • If you cancelled through Apple or Google, verify it in that app store’s subscription list instead

Then watch your next billing date pass with no new charge. If WW bills you anyway after you cancelled, contact them with your confirmation, and escalate to a bank chargeback if it isn’t resolved.

In Case something Got Missed

Can I pause my Weight Watchers membership instead of cancelling?

WW doesn’t offer a formal pause feature like some subscription services. Your main options are downgrading to a cheaper plan, like switching from Workshops to Digital, or cancelling outright.

Will I lose my tracked data and points history if I cancel?

Your data typically stays on file for a period after cancellation in case you resubscribe, but WW doesn’t guarantee indefinite storage. If your progress history matters to you, it’s worth exporting or screenshotting key data before cancelling.

What happens if I resubscribe after cancelling?

You’ll usually be charged the current standard rate, not any promotional price you originally signed up at. Past discounts or special offers typically don’t carry over.

Can family members share one Weight Watchers subscription?

Weight Watchers plans are typically tied to a single individual account and aren’t designed for shared or family billing, unlike some other subscription services.
